Boone, NC

Boone, North Carolina is a small mountain town in the Blue Ridge Mountains, named after frontiersman Daniel Boone, who explored the area in the 1700s. Originally home to Indigenous peoples, Boone developed in the mid-1800s as a rural settlement supported by farming, timber, and tourism. Its growth accelerated with the founding of Appalachian State University in 1899, which shaped Boone into a lively college town while preserving its Appalachian heritage and outdoor focus.
